Much of my work currently takes the form of bespoke furniture commissions. My clients vary from private individuals and local businesses, to interior designers and architects. These pieces are in addition to my range of made-to-order furniture that you can find in my shop, and often take the form of variations on these pieces to meet the client brief.
I’m frequently asked to make dining tables, living room storage, beds and side tables. But I relish a challenge so welcome enquiries about these pieces or anything else, to be crafted from my workshop in Tottenham, North London.

Bespoke wooden furniture is tailor-made for you and your home. Created to the dimensions you need, beautiful timbers that you can select and your favourite finishes or detailed touches. It is the perfect way to create something unique for your home. I will guide you through the process in a very approachable way, so do not worry if you are new to bespoke furniture buying.

They might appreciate and enjoy being part of the design process, or simply want to pose a problem for me to solve. Creating bespoke wooden furniture ensures the client gets exactly what they want. With Knot Design, you’ll be talking to me and only me. I offer a personal touch when it comes to furniture buying and commissioning. I will work with you to understand your requirements and ensure you get exactly what you want. I have a range of experience working with client briefs, starting anywhere from a full design brief to a completely blank piece of paper and everything in-between.
In the early stages I can advise on budgets for the pieces you need, and will help steer the process along the way to ensure no nasty surprises. I care deeply about the process of making fine furniture - I use locally sourced natives British timbers to produce items that are skilfully made and that treated well will last generations.

How much does bespoke furniture cost?
The cost of bespoke furniture depends on many elements - timber selection, detailing, joinery techniques, and craftsmanship required to produce the piece to the highest of standards. I will always endeavour to provide options that will influence the cost of the commission.
Some pieces I design are statement pieces for a client’s home and take extraordinary amounts of time, patience and craftsmanship to create the desired effect, and the cost will reflect this. Other items are more functional in nature and design, focused on making most optimal use of the space it will occupy, and therefore at a more approachable price.
I am always happy to discuss which elements in your design may be adaptable to reduce cost if you have a strict budget and would always suggest sending in an enquiry to explore the idea.

Get in touch using the form below with your requirements. Some clients know precisely what they want, others need more guidance - both are absolutely fine. Of course the more guidance you can supply the quicker the design phase will likely be. Things to consider - required dimensions, preferred materials, joinery choices, etc.

After an initial discussion about the requirement, clarification of details (if required) and appropriate budget set, a design fee is requested. This sum will be deducted from the total cost of the commission, but is non-refundable if the client chooses not to proceed with ordering the piece. One or more design concepts will be presented to the client with photorealistic CAD renders.

Feedback on the initial design will be incorporated into a final design presentation. Tweaks can be made at this stage, but significant alterations or changing in brief may result in further design charges. Final sign-off is made with renders and technical drawings with key dimensions & details marked.

Drawings are signed off by the client and first deposit is made. Timber will then be sourced and the crafting process begins. Clients will have been informed of approximate lead time at this stage.

Once the furniture item is complete, delivery will be made at a mutually convenient time. This will often be by the craftsman themselves in order to answer any questions about the making process and care for your furniture going forward.
