Hand Carved London Plane Hallway Bench
This bespoke hallway bench was designed to sit in a narrow Georgian hallway of a private house in Islington, London. Made entirely from locally-sourced London plane, the bench features two highly contrasting textures to bring the piece to life. The outer legs and frame have been hand carved and blackened to give the appearance of beaten metal, whilst the central section has been finished to a high level to bring out all of the colours in the stunning grain.
Due to the space constraints this storage bench needs to pack in a lot of functionality so has incorporated two levels of shoe storage as well as two chest sections with lift up lids. The hinges are specially designed to stay at whatever angle they are opened to, so no chance of trapped fingers for younger users.
