MASON - Bar Stool

MASON countertop stool was one of the very first pieces made at Knot Design, and remains one of the most ordered. Its slender oak frame belies real strength and comfort, with a seat hand-woven from Danish cord, available in natural or black, using no metal fasteners that might snag on clothing. At 73cm, the seat height suits most kitchen bar tops, though it can be adjusted to your specific counter height on request.

Mason has been with me since the very beginning, and it's stayed close to its original form - proof, I think, that a good design doesn't need much reinventing. There's something satisfying about a piece this pared-back: slim, turned legs, a simple woven seat, nothing extraneous anywhere.

The seat itself is woven by hand, strand by strand, in the traditional Danish style. It's a slow, meditative job, but it gives a seat with real give and comfort to it — something you don't get from a solid slab of timber.

I make Mason in both natural and black cord, shown together here, and the 73cm height suits most kitchen counters as standard.
