AVERY - Long Coffee Table
This version of the AVERY table takes the collection's signature rope leg detail and stretches it into an elongated lozenge form. The rail extends at floor level between the two fixed legs, echoing the round Avery's overlapping curves in a longer, lower silhouette. The top in these images is crafted from pippy oak, with larger knots sympathetically patched to stabilise them.
This is the long-form sibling to the original round Avery - same language, stretched out. Where the round table gathers its legs into a compact cross underfoot, here the rope-like rail runs the full length of the base, tracing a long, low curve between the two fixed legs. It changes the whole feel of the piece - more flowing and less self-contained.
I chose a pippy oak for the top in this particular table specifically for its character - the small knots and burrs that run through pippy boards give real movement the table’s surface. Where a knot was large enough to be structurally unstable, I've patched it in sympathetically, rather than discard the board - a visible repair, but one that adds to the story and character of the piece rather than detracting from it.
