IVER - Side Table

IVER is a small three-legged side table, sized to nestle alongside an armchair with just enough room on its top for a book and a mug of tea. The legs are playfully turned with a scalloped, ribbed profile, and fixed to the top with traditional wedged through-tenons - visible from above as a small decorative detail, and built to last for generations. It's offered as standard in natural oak or blackened ash, shown together here, with other timbers available on request.

I wanted Iver to be playful - small enough to tuck in beside a chair without asking for attention, but with something to catch the eye once it's there. The turned, scalloped legs are the heart of it - they take a good while at the lathe, but that rhythm of ridges is what gives an otherwise simple stool-height table its character.

The joinery is a traditional staple - each leg passes straight through the top and is locked in place with a wedged through-tenon, so you can actually see the joint from above as darker circle with a lines through it. It's not hidden away - I like that you can see how the piece is put together, and it means the joint only gets tighter with time rather than working loose.

Shown here in both oak and blackened ash side by side, so you can see how differently the same form reads depending on the finish - one warm and grained, the other quiet and almost graphic. If neither's quite right, I'm happy to make Iver in a timber of your choosing through a custom order.
